Adam Popp will join Campbell County Health as its new CFO, starting Monday, March 20, 2023. Originally from Houston, Texas, Adam was most recently the CFO of Prairie Lakes Healthcare System in Watertown, South Dakota.

Adam moved to Nebraska nine years ago and fell in love with the region. Adam learned about Gillette and CCH through a mutual connection who was very familiar with CCH. That connection kick-started what would ultimately culminate in Adam accepting the role of CFO at CCH.

“CCH offers an impressive array of services to the community,” said Popp. “Everyone I met here was great, and I knew I would fit in well with the leadership and staff.”

Adam brings decades of experience in healthcare finances to CCH. Not-for-profit hospitals like CCH can present a unique challenge for healthcare finance leaders, but Adam is ready. He shared that the stakes in a rural setting are even higher and that rural leaders regularly interact with their community and constituents.

“You go to the grocery store and see the folks you’ve provided services to,” said Popp. “At the end of the day, a not-for-profit healthcare facility has to be financially sustainable so it can care for patients today and tomorrow, including those who don’t have health insurance.”

Adam describes himself as an outdoors kind of guy. He enjoys bow hunting and hopes to take up that hobby again when he arrives in Gillette. Adam is a self-starter and fiercely independent, and he knows he will fit well with the Gillette community.

“There is an independence that comes from being from Texas, and I haven’t lost that,” said Popp. “I think that will fit very well in Gillette.”

“We’ve been searching for a CFO who can embody the Excellence Every Day necessary to ensure this organization can live up to its pillar of fiscal responsibility with integrity and transparency,” said CCH CEO Matt Shahan. “We are excited to welcome Adam to CCH. His energy, experience, and drive are precisely what this organization needs in its next CFO.
