U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Senate Majority Whip, responded to President Donald J. Trump’s State of the Union address, highlighting what he described as significant improvements in the country over the past year.

In his remarks, Barrasso stated: “What a difference a year makes. The President was able to report tonight that America is back on track.”

He credited Republican policies for recent developments, saying: “Republicans promised safety and prosperity for our nation, and we’ve delivered. The border is now secure. Gasoline prices are at a five-year low. Jobs are coming back to America. Wages are up. Things are more affordable.”

Barrasso also recounted a recent visit to a Navy Destroyer near Iran, where he met two sailors from Wyoming whose fathers work in energy-related jobs in their home state. He said both sailors told him that “President Trump and Republicans saved their fathers’ jobs.” Barrasso added, “That’s what we’re doing for America.”

Looking ahead, Barrasso predicted further economic benefits from recently enacted tax legislation: “And it’s going to get even better. Tax returns are going to be even higher for this year than they were last year as a result of the Working Families Tax Cuts law. That’s what it means to make America safer and more prosperous.”
