The University of Wyoming announced on April 21 that eight wrestlers will participate in the 2026 U.S. Open Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada, this week.

The event is significant for the program as it offers both current athletes and incoming freshmen a chance to compete at a national level and potentially qualify for world trials later this year.

Six current Cowboys—Isaiah Harrison (57 kg), Antonio Avila (70 kg), Westen Hoffschneider (74 kg), Owen Hull (79 kg), Lane Foard (79 kg), and Bradlee Farrer (79 kg)—will compete in the U20 Freestyle division. In addition, incoming freshmen Dom Wilson (70 kg) and Gunner Lopez (74 kg) are set to participate in both the U20 Freestyle and U20 Greco-Roman categories.

According to the university, winners of both Freestyle and Greco-Roman brackets at this tournament will advance to the U20 World Team Trials scheduled for this summer.

The competition takes place from Thursday through Sunday inside The Expo at World Market Center Las Vegas.
