Town of Jackson recently issued the following announcement.

May 1st traditionally marks the opening of the elk antler shed collection. The Jackson Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services (National Elk Refuge) have specific regulations surrounding shed collecting and access to areas of shed collection.  Please visit their individual websites for additional information on the Elk Antler Shed Hunt Information.

The Town of Jackson will allow individuals to stage prior to the opening of the Elk Refuge Road at the Teton County Fairgrounds. Individuals will need to apply for a spot in this pre-event line up.  Those in the line-up will be escorted by the Jackson Police to the Elk Refuge Road at 6:00 AM and will be allowed first access to the road.

Participants in the shed hunt are strongly encouraged to visit the National Elk Refuge website.  Please know that it is illegal to collect, possess, sell, purchase, or transport any natural product, including shed antlers, from the National Elk Refuge.
