The Big 12 Conference announced on April 30 that five University of Wyoming wrestlers have been named to its Winter Academic Team.

This recognition highlights the academic achievements of student-athletes who balance their studies with participation in collegiate sports. The honor was awarded to John Alden, Riley Davis, Sefton Douglass, Jared Hill, and Brett McIntosh.

According to the announcement, Davis qualified for his first NCAA Championships this season. Douglass and Hill both started for the team and competed in the Big 12 Championship. Alden and McIntosh contributed as starters at various points during the 2025-26 season.

To be eligible for selection to the Winter Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 and participate in at least 20 percent of their team’s contests. Freshmen are not eligible for this award. Seniors who have competed for a minimum of two years may qualify even if they do not meet the participation threshold.

The recognition underscores both athletic and academic commitment among college athletes.
