STATEMENT FROM MAYOR BYRON W. BROWN ON SHOOTING IN CHESAPEAKE, VIRGINIA

As Mayor of the City of Buffalo, my heart breaks for the family and friends of those lost, injured or impacted in last night’s mass shooting at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia. To have this happen in the days leading up to Thanksgiving Day and the start of the holiday season is nothing short of horrific. Twice in only three days, we’ve witnessed two mass shootings terrorize a community in more acts of senseless gun violence. These shootings are again an unmistakable reminder that more should be done to address this issue in cities across the country. Buffalo stands with the Chesapeake community, and everyone impacted by this tragedy.
