Buffalo, New York – Buffalo Bills star wide receiver Stefon Diggs and The Stefon Diggs Foundation, in coordination with Mayor Byron W. Brown and the City of Buffalo, hosted Stefan’s first annual “Back to School” backpack giveaway event in Buffalo, NY on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Stefon chose to host the event in the parking lot of the Tops Friendly Markets on Jefferson Avenue in East Buffalo, where the hope and healing continues in the aftermath of the May 14th shooting that left 10 innocent people dead, and three others injured. During the event, Stefon provided Jordan Brand backpacks, school supplies, NIKE gift certificates, and other special gifts to 300 students, who reside in this East Buffalo neighborhood.

“I am proud member of the Buffalo community and I always look to give back how and where I can. More so, I am overjoyed to host this event in a part of our community that needs our love and support. It is my hope that today’s backpack giveaway is a helpful resource to families as they prepare for a successful school year,” said Stefon Diggs.

“As our City’s young people get ready to return to their classrooms, we must do everything we can to ensure they have the tools they need to succeed in the new school year,” said Mayor Byron W. Brown. “I thank Bills’ wide receiver Stefon Diggs for partnering with me, the City of Buffalo and other organizations, on today’s Back to School event at the Tops on Jefferson Avenue, which will help ease the back-to-school anxiety and financial burden for many families in this East Buffalo neighborhood. It’s been a long and challenging few months, but together, we are deeply committed to supporting our students and families and hope this event helps them have a successful academic year.”

Other community organizations and endorsement partners contributed to today’s event to further educational opportunity and success. Eligible students at the event learned more about T-Mobile’s Project 10Million and signed up for free mobile hotspots that offer 100GB of internet access for up to 5 years. Buffalo headquartered endorsement partner, Imagine Staffing graciously provided school supply kits in each backpack. Other partner contributions included M&T Bank and Gatorade. Additionally, students enjoyed other amenities and activities such as free haircuts, face painting, games and much more.
