U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Senate Majority Whip, spoke on the Senate Floor to recognize three athletes from Wyoming who are set to compete for Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan, Italy.

Jaelin Kauf from Alta will participate in Single and Dual Mogul Skiing. Breezy Johnson from Jackson Hole is competing in Alpine Skiing, and Anna Gibson, also from Jackson Hole, will take part in Ski Mountaineering.

In his remarks, Barrasso highlighted the achievements and backgrounds of each athlete. “Tomorrow, in Milan, Italy, the 2026 Winter Olympics officially begins,” he said. “Wyoming is once again helping lead Team USA to the top of the Mountain – literally. Three extraordinary Wyoming women are competing on the world’s biggest stage. They are Jaelin Kauf, Breezy Johnson and Anna Gibson.”

Barrasso noted that Jaelin Kauf is entering her third Olympic Games and comes from a family of professional mogul skiers. He referenced her previous success: “And, Wyoming was thrilled – but not at all surprised – when she took home the silver medal at the 2022 Games. This year, she is going for Gold.” He also pointed out that she will be competing in dual moguls as it makes its Olympic debut.

Regarding Breezy Johnson’s return after injury forced her withdrawal from the 2022 Olympics, Barrasso said: “The 2026 Olympics marks Breezy’s return to alpine skiing. She had to withdraw from the 2022 Games after tearing her anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus. Known for her speed, she embodies the relentless drive of a champion and the ability to overcome adversity.”

Anna Gibson will make both her own and ski mountaineering’s Olympic debut this year. Barrasso described ski mountaineering as “a grueling test of strength, endurance, and willpower.” He added: “As a decorated cross-country runner – which will get her up the mountain – and a Nordic skier – which will get her down the mountain – Anna is made for this challenge.”

Barrasso concluded by expressing support for all three athletes: “My home state of Wyoming will be cheering on each and every one of these three incredible women – and we will be watching them with pride… All of America wishes the very, very best for Team USA in the days and weeks ahead.”
