U.S. Sen. John Barrasso keeps his stand against President Joe Biden’s approach to gun safety.
For years, the Wyoming senator has been throwing cold water in Biden’s direction to curb gun violence, saying that it is unconstitutional, thus it is not the proper way to address gun-related crimes.
“I won’t let Joe Biden threaten the right of people in Wyoming to keep and bear arms,” Barrasso took to Twitter his apprehension on the issue. “We all agree that we must find ways to control violent crime and keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Attacking the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens isn’t the way to do that.”
The Hill reported that White House officials have discussed with various anti-gun violence groups last week how to proceed with stricter gun laws they think are needed to prevent further firearms-related violence as gun sales are on the rise across the country.
“This meeting provided more evidence that the Biden Administration is committed to being the strongest we’ve ever seen on gun safety,” John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety said. “With COVID making gun violence worse and armed extremists literally holding our democracy at gunpoint, the time for action is now — and we fully expect to see it soon.”
