Recent Moose Sighting Prompts Change

Moose

Town of Hanna recently issued the following announcement.

It used to be a goose, but soon it will be a moose! The Town of Hanna announces that they will be formally adopting a new icon to replace the Canada Goose.

With the recent sightings of a moose roaming the streets of Hanna, Council wants to make this change as soon as possible.

“Harvest Sky Regional Economic Development has concluded many studies recently; one of which is how to support local ambassadors and increase tourism. Council felt that now is the time to make this change.”

At their meeting earlier this week, Council made a motion to transition Hanna’s icon from a goose, to a moose. In an effort to save money, the city of Moose Jaw was approached to see if they might consider swapping statues. As luck would have it, Moose Jaw has been considering a change and the Mayor of Moose Jaw is excited about receiving Hanna’s goose! Plans are already in place to uproot the statues at the end of the month.

73% of Moose Jawites support changing their name. For too many years, Moose Jaw has been the target of unkind jokes. The City has already submitted its application to Saskatchewan Municipal Affairs to formally request a name change to Goose Jaw. Hanna has not submitted an application yet but when they do, they anticipate the rename to be an April Fool!
