Three athletes from the Wyoming Cowgirls track and field team recorded new top 10 program times in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on April 16 during the first day of the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California.

The performances mark a significant achievement for the team as multiple runners set personal bests and moved up in school history rankings. Sophomore Muriel Jones led her teammates with a time of 10:30.80, placing her third in heat four and moving her to fifth all-time for Wyoming. Fellow sophomore Brionna Holso finished with a time of 10:39.84, which was more than a twenty-second improvement on her previous best and earned her seventh place in program history. Senior Rozlyn Slichko also set a personal record with a time of 10:42.64, securing eighth place all-time for Wyoming and achieving her second top ten program mark this season.

Freshman Gracie Uhre completed the event with another personal best at 11:02.38, finishing in 101st place overall among competitors.

In other events that evening, senior Marina Trave ran the invitational section of the women’s 10,000 meters and finished twenty-first with a time of 34:38.42 after completing twenty-five laps. Junior Eowyn Dalbec also competed in that race and crossed the line twenty-seventh at 34:53.81.

On the men’s side, sophomore Austin Akers represented the Cowboys by running in heat two of the open section for the men’s steeplechase; he finished thirteenth in his heat and seventy-eighth overall with a time of 9:25.37.

Competition is scheduled to continue tomorrow at both the Bryan Clay Invitational starting at eight o’clock Mountain Time and at day one of the Beach Invitational beginning just after noon Mountain Time.
