Three members of the Wyoming Cowgirls tennis team were named to the All-Mountain West teams, according to an April 21 announcement at the Mountain West Tennis Championships postseason banquet in Las Vegas.
Silver Bijlsma, Violetta Borodina, and Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia all received recognition on the All-Mountain West Singles Team. Bijlsma and Borodina were also selected as an All-Mountain West Doubles pair. This marks a program record for Wyoming, with three student-athletes named to the singles squad in a single season.
Bijlsma completed her freshman year with 24 total wins, tying for fourth-most in a single season in program history. She played all matches at No. 1 and No. 2 positions and went 6-4 during Mountain West play, earning all six victories in straight sets.
Borodina is ranked among the top 25 in career singles wins for Wyoming and finished this season with a record of 16-9 overall. Competing exclusively at No. 3 during league play, she posted a 6-2 mark and was leading two matches that were abandoned. As doubles partners, Bijlsma and Borodina went 17-9 overall and had four doubles wins during conference action this season. A Wyoming doubles team has been named All-Mountain West every year under Head Coach Dean Clower.
Kochelaevskaia played at No.1 position this season and tallied 18 total wins for the year. She recorded four league victories—three of them in straight sets—and was ahead in another match before it was abandoned.
The Cowgirls are set to begin Mountain West Championship play against New Mexico on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
