The University of Wyoming and its community members were featured in state, national, and international media reports, according to a June 1 summary from the university.

UW economist Matt Burgess co-authored a paper published in Physical Review E that found people achieve optimal results when using a satisfaction threshold above average but still finite. The research was highlighted by outlets including The Guardian, New Scientist, and Phys.Org.

Scott Beaulier, H.A. “Dave” True Family Dean of UW’s College of Business, said in a Washington Times article that the predicted decline in teens working summer jobs reflects long-term labor market shifts as well as some influence from tariffs imposed during the Trump administration and the Iran war.

In an article by Your Wyoming Link regarding data center development in Wyoming, UW engineering Professor Jonathan Brant said more information is needed to evaluate potential impacts on water and energy resources. Additionally, UW economists presented an analysis covering Campbell County’s labor force and economic indicators to county officials last month; this presentation was covered by the Gillette News Record.

A $20 million gift from Carol and Ramon Tomé—one of the largest commitments in university history—was reported by Sheridan Media. Sheridan Media also covered new UW-led research on housing development’s effects on big-game habitat and migration corridors.

The Laramie Boomerang reported on several recent university milestones: celebrations for petroleum education’s centennial at UW; startup Uplink Robotics receiving the Spirit of Wyoming award from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s state office; and late faculty member Sarah Collins being honored posthumously by the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography.
