The University of Wyoming and the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network announced on May 12 that they will host a webinar for small-business owners, entrepreneurs, and startups focused on construction bids and invoices. The event, titled “Key Insights to Understanding Construction Bids and Invoices,” is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 from 2-3 p.m., with a registration fee of $15.

The webinar aims to help participants learn how to work with general contractors when managing construction projects. Organizers say the session will offer guidance on keeping business projects moving smoothly, staying close to budget, and remaining informed throughout the process.

Kane Morris will lead the session. He heads the design department at Evergreen Dwellings and is a principal of the company. Morris brings more than 25 years of design and building experience. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in environmental design and a Master of Architecture from Montana State University. According to the announcement, Morris was born in Big Horn Basin, operates from Cody, serves clients statewide and beyond, graduated from Leadership Wyoming in 2018, and has extensive board service experience in his community.

During the workshop, attendees can expect to learn how to identify key parts of a construction bid; understand what drives project costs; ask insightful questions before signing contracts; and track project costs during construction.

The Wyoming SBDC Network provides business expertise for residents looking to start or grow their businesses. It is hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funding from the Wyoming Business Council as well as support through an agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
