The University of Wyoming College of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Natural Resources announced on April 28 that it recognized outstanding educators and staff members during its recent annual awards banquet.

The event highlighted the contributions of faculty and staff who support students, research, and outreach efforts in the college. Farm Credit Services of America Dean Kelly Crane said, “Each year, we celebrate the exceptional accomplishments of faculty and staff within the College of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Natural Resources. Our college excels because of their undeniable passion, innovation and hard work.”

Two individuals received the Outstanding Staff Award: Jeremy Cain, a graphic designer for UW Extension’s communication and technology team; and Jacqueline “Jack” Ross, senior office associate in the Department of Zoology and Physiology. David Keto described Cain’s impact by saying, “His attention to detail and consideration of how the audience will interact with his designs result in unique products that always enhance a given project’s goals.” Amy Navratil said about Ross: “Her professionalism and positivity make her the foundation that holds the department together.”

Roger Coupal was honored with the Andrew Vanvig Lifetime Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award for his long-standing service as a professor in agricultural and applied economics. Ben Rashford said about Coupal: “His career reflects a deep and unwavering commitment to advancing the land-grant mission of the University of Wyoming, often prioritizing institutional advancement and public service over personal recognition.”

Gretchen Gasvoda-Kelso from Big Horn County received one Outstanding Educator Award for her work as a 4-H youth development extension educator. Dan VanderPloeg said about Gasvoda-Kelso: “Gretchen has a remarkable ability to recognize motivation in young people and nurture it to its fullest potential.” Kassandra Willingham from molecular biology also earned an Outstanding Educator Award; Navratil said students find Willingham “approachable, supportive and enthusiastic.”

The college continues to offer degrees across several departments including animal science, botany, ecosystem science & management among others. More information is available at www.uwyo.edu/uwag or by calling (307) 766-4133.
