The Wyoming Bean Commission is scheduled to meet on January 26, starting at 9:00 am. The agenda includes a budget update, review of expenses from 2025, discussions on possible changes to the assessment rate, RMBDA membership and meeting details, policy reviews for the commission, the USDBC dues structure, and selection of CRFW board representatives. Additional business may also be addressed as needed.

The public is invited to attend the meeting and will have an opportunity to participate.

Commission members include Beau Fulton (grower) from Park County, Jeffery Chapman (handler), Jerrod Lind (grower) from Platte County, Pascual Aguilar (grower) from Big Horn County, Wayne Hort (grower) from Goshen County, Cortney Allen (handler), and Dale Heggem who serves as an ex-officio member representing the Wyoming Department of Agriculture.

The commission consists of six initial appointees by the Governor—four growers and two handlers with facilities in Wyoming. At least one member must reside in Laramie, Platte or Goshen County. Funding for the commission comes from assessments on dry bean sales and it operates under the Wyoming Department of Agriculture. The group meets at least twice each year and maintains permanent records of its proceedings while reporting activities to both the Governor and legislative committees focused on agriculture and public lands.

Additionally, “the commission may conduct or contract scientific research, disseminate information on dry edible beans based on research, study state and federal legislation with respect to matters concerning the dry edible bean industry, appoint advisory groups, make grants to research agencies for financing special or emergency studies,” among other activities.
