The Wyoming Cowgirls lost their final regular season match against Colorado State on April 16, falling 4-1 in Fort Collins. With this result, the Cowgirls are set as the No. 8 seed for next week’s Mountain West Tennis Championships.

This outcome finalizes the team’s position heading into postseason play, with their first tournament match scheduled for Wednesday, April 22 at 2 p.m. Mountain Time.

Madlena Orlova secured the only win for Wyoming during singles competition, defeating her opponent in straight sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-4 at the No. 4 spot. Two other Cowgirls players, Violetta Borodina and Serina Abriola, were leading in their respective singles matches when play was stopped after Colorado State clinched victory.

In doubles action, Orlova also contributed to a win alongside her partner Ceinos with a score of 6-3. However, Colorado State won the remaining two doubles matches and took three out of four completed singles contests to secure the overall team victory.

As they move forward into tournament play as the eighth seed, Wyoming will look to build on individual performances such as Orlova’s and seek improvement across both singles and doubles matches.
