U.S. Senators John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis, along with Representative Harriet Hageman, have expressed support for the nomination of Wyoming State Senator Darin Smith as the United States Attorney for the District of Wyoming. President Trump recently put forward Smith’s name for the position. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Smith would become the chief federal law enforcement officer in Wyoming.

“Darin Smith is ready and well-qualified to serve as Wyoming’s chief federal law enforcement officer,” said Barrasso. “President Trump made a solid, conservative choice in nominating Darin. Darin’s experience in the Wyoming State Senate and years of practicing law in Wyoming will serve him well. I look forward to confirming him in the U.S. Senate as soon as possible.”

Senator Lummis also voiced her approval: “The President has made an excellent decision in nominating Darin Smith to serve the people of Wyoming as U.S. Attorney,” she said. “Darin possesses the qualifications, experience, and values needed to take on this challenging role. I am eager to move forward with his confirmation in the U.S. Senate and get him to work at the earliest opportunity.”

Representative Hageman added her endorsement: “I support President Trump’s nomination of Darin Smith as U.S. Attorney for the District of Wyoming,” she stated. “I trust that he will uphold the rule of law, defend Wyoming values, and work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.”

Smith was elected to represent District 6 in the Wyoming State Senate in November 2024. He established the Smith Group Law Office in 2000 and has been its managing partner for 25 years. In addition to his legal practice, Smith serves as Director of Planned Giving and Foundations at the Family Research Council.

He earned both his undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Wyoming.
