Kiley Reisner, a freshman on the Wyoming women’s golf team, won the individual trophy at the Bobcat Desert Classic in Goodyear, Arizona, on April 15. Reisner finished with a three-round score of 211 (-5), which is the third lowest in program history.
The win highlights Reisner’s continued impact on Wyoming’s record books and marks her as a standout athlete in her first year. Her performance underscores both her talent and potential for future success.
Reisner was tied with four other players after two rounds but secured victory by shooting a final round of 3-under 69 to finish three strokes ahead. This achievement follows her record-setting performance at the Cowgirl Classic just one week earlier, where she posted an individual low event score of 207. That broke teammate Elle Higgins’ previous mark set last September at the Wolverine Invitational.
“Kiley’s performance the last two events has been pretty incredible,” Wyoming head coach Josey Stender said. “Today she showed a lot of maturity and grit as she did not have her best stuff but managed to score well.” Stender also said, “It is extremely difficult and rare to earn individual victories in our sport and to accomplish that in her first year is phenomenal.”
Reisner is now the first player since Kelly Meyers in 1989 to win two tournaments for Wyoming women’s golf in one year. The all-time record for most tournament wins by an individual belongs to Jordan Lintz with three titles between 1998 and 2000.
The Cowgirls placed fourth out of thirteen teams with a total score of +16 over three rounds. Their second-round team total was among the lowest ever recorded by Wyoming, demonstrating overall improvement heading into upcoming competitions.
Looking ahead, Stender said, “I’m very pleased with our round as a team and our finish as we head into the Mountain West Championships… Our goal will be to continue our positive energy and consistent tournament preparation.” The Cowgirls are set to compete next at the Mountain West Championships from April 21-23.
