The Wyoming Department of Agriculture has announced that applications are now open for the 2026 Emergency Insect Management Grant. The program, established by the state legislature in 2003, is designed to support emergency management efforts related to insect pests and vectors.

Funding decisions will be made by a designated committee. Information about the allocation meeting, including its date, place, and time, will be shared once finalized.

Eligible applicants include state agencies and political subdivisions such as cities, towns, counties, weed and pest districts, and special districts. Approved programs can receive up to 50% of their total costs covered by the grant. In certain situations involving outbreak insects, funding may cover up to 75% of program costs.

Insect vectors targeted by the program include mosquitoes, biting flies, and other blood-feeding arthropods capable of transmitting pathogens harmful to humans, livestock, agriculture, or natural resources. The grant also addresses insect pests such as grasshoppers, Mormon crickets, invasive fire ants, and Africanized honeybees.

Further details on eligibility requirements are available in the grant package on the Wyoming Department of Agriculture website. For additional information or questions regarding the application process, Lindsey Woodward can be contacted at 307-777-6585.
